Catholic Spirit writer Maria Wiering reports on the National Catholic Youth Conference in Kansas City, MO.
It’s Saturday afternoon, and it’s obvious that the energy is depleting — a bit. This cowboy is not the only adult leader I’ve spied catching a quick snooze. The most amazing part is that he’s sleeping near the doorway to the exhibit hall, which is one of the busiest thoroughfares in the conference center.
The tiredness is understandable — most groups are leaving their hotels by 7:15 a.m. to get to the general sessions (which begin at 9, but the pre-shows are at 7:30), and the final general sessions end at 10 p.m. It’s often another hour before the groups are back to their hotels.
Basically, NCYC = long days, little sleep
